Barry Silbert Resigns as Chairman of Grayscale Investments

Digital Currency Group (DCG) founder Barry Silbert has resigned from his place because the chairman of Grayscale Investments. Current DCG chief monetary officer Mark Shifke succeeds Silbert and is joined by Edward McGee and Matthew Kummell as members of the brand new look board.

Preparing for Grayscale’s Next Chapter

Barry Silbert, the founder and CEO of Digital Currency Group, has resigned from his place as chairman of the digital asset administration firm Grayscale and will probably be changed by Mark Shifke.

According to the corporate’s filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), beginning Jan. 1, 2024, Grayscale’s board will probably be composed of Mark Shifke, Matthew Kummell, and Edward McGee. Current Grayscale Investments CEO Michael Sonnenshein can also be a board member, whereas Mark Murphy, the president of Digital Currency Group (DCG), departs alongside Silbert.

Commenting on the modifications to the board, an unidentified Grayscale spokeswoman reportedly stated:

“Grayscale and our traders will profit from their respective experiences within the monetary providers and asset administration industries as we put together for Grayscale’s subsequent chapter.”

The modifications to the Grayscale Investments board are coming at a time when the SEC is contemplating the corporate’s request to show its Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) right into a spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF).
